Stamp Designs

I collect postal stamps. Stamps are sometimes described as miniature works of art. Whether they interest us or not, it is hard to deny that they present a unique design challenge. To challenge myself, I have started a monthly stamp design exercise, to commemorate a significant event each month, and to create stamps that I would like to collect :)

The ballot box is a powerful thing, feared by autocrats and dictators the world over. They aim to destroy the trust we have in our vote, to silence the equal voice it gives to each of us. Democracy is under threat, even in so-called developed nations. We must protect our right to vote.

About my design
Even the imagery of a ballot box is powerful, so I wanted to include it in my design. The image of the lock reminds us that democracies are under threat and must be protected. The world map indicates that this is a global issue. I like the dots in the map (a stock image), it brings to mind individual votes combining to create society as a whole.
