1/ Draw Drafts
Firstly, a teacher will guide us to explore characters and scenes on Pinterest by creating a mood board and colour palette. It was the most relaxing time while browsing many master's works and getting inspired. During the whole exploration period, I was full of excitement to build my own creative world. Yeah, you could feel excited about any possibility that is right in front of you. This is my strategy to learn effectively and purposely. I referred to teachers' hangouts to create a similar composition but different patterns because I wanna focus more on learning software skills rather than creating a unique art piece.

2/ Modeling, Colouring and lighting
Next, we start to model the characters in C4D, which could take a long time. It might be time-consuming if you were in the middle of the night learning software from the very beginning. From the first lesson, it needs our attention to learn the platform of C4D. My best suggestion is that just use every function on your own and see it as your playground to create anything. Sometimes, we can get unexpected results after experimenting. Practice, practice and practice! I didn't skip any small sessions in this class even though some of the modelling process is so tedious. what's more, the idea of creating your library of objects is extremely useful and saves time while composing a scene.
3/ Go Lighting
I explore and adjust the position of the model thousands of times in order to make every object in a balanced scene. I think it is like an experiment process which is very cool.
After modelling, the basic acknowledgement of lighting plays a key role in your illustration. Knowing how to use HDRI is like finding a life-saver in my life. Haha, it is very convenient to use and easy to adjust the amount of light and colour with the help of HDRI.
4/ Composition of illustration
From my perspective, it is the most interesting process of the whole project. We can arrange any objects on our own to create the perfect composition for your work. Sometimes, it could be better even if we did not follow our own drafts.
5/ Render - Octane render
Without much effort, the result is of high quality when our modelling was rendered by octane render. So satisfied with the result of the amazing render engine cause me to fall in love with it. If you didn't install any render plugin, there is also a way to adjust the light step by step.
6/ Showcase Motion
To showcase the full project in Behance, I make the character spin around in C4D. Besides, I remove the background of the video and add post-production in After Effects. For the picture illustration, I also use Photoshop to adjust the colour balance as well as the colour hue to reach a satisfying result.
The Result
Finally, I finished this course while I was off work and utilize limited time to learn 3D skills. I was fulfilled by the outcome of the side project which I got over 500 likes and 5K project views on Behance.
I was thankful for Domestika featuring me on the page of the student's project in this online class. I highly recommend this online course for people who wanna learn basic 3D illustration skills in C4d. Hope to see more beautiful 3D artwork on this page in the future.
