Description
I dedicate this artwork to immigrants and souls who die in the sea due to clandestine landings and to people who, in order to escape from their own oppressed reality, war and despondency, risk their lives hoping to have a better and dignified life and earthly existence. The painting illustrates the soul of the person at the bottom of the sea, looking for a way out (see the illuminated door). The external observation point is that of a porthole (at an underwater level) and represents the point of view of people who could do something to help these people and who remain indifferent to these tragic events (or which often even worsen the situation) - (self-criticism of our society). The padlock and the key, being in the "external point of view" (our point of view), symbolize "our possibility to help these people who are in serious difficulty". From my humble point of view, it is up to us, even with small gestures, not necessarily being heroes, to do something to help these people in need. If we want, we can give "the key" to open the door that would lead them to "salvation". At least try somehow to help. We are all connected!
